My Story
In September 2024, I will once again take part in the Great Hospital Hike to support King's College Hospital Charity. After the success of raising over £1,700 last year, I'm inspired to participate in this event again. This hike holds special significance for me as I do it in honor of my sister, Zahra, who received a miraculous gift around this time last year: a new liver and, with it, a new life.
We hike in memory of her donor, whose identity remains unknown to us, but whose remarkable generosity has given Zahra a second chance. I also hike in memory of Ana Bela, my own donor, and my late aunt Lamis, who was also a patient at King’s like Zahra and me, and had received two donors from them.
King's College Hospital has played a crucial role in our lives, providing exceptional care and giving us hope when we needed it most. The dedication and skill of their medical team have been a lifeline for our family. Participating in this hike is my way of giving back to an institution that has given us so much.
The Great Hospital Hike is more than just a fundraising event; it's a celebration of life, resilience, and the incredible impact of organ donation. Each step we take honors those who have selflessly given others the chance to live fuller, healthier lives. We walk to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and to support the ongoing efforts of King’s College Hospital in providing top-notch medical care and life-saving treatments.
Your support means the world to us. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. Together, we can help ensure that King’s College Hospital continues to offer its exceptional services to those in need. Thank you for your generosity and for joining us in this meaningful jourey.
